A total shot in the ear; all sugar, no fat.

Story behind the song
"I'll Be Your Fix" is about watching someone dear to me completely self-destruct while I helplessly wonder "Why?" Why are you doing this? Why am I not enough for you? Why are you putting us through this? Why don't you see your own greatness?
The chorus is truly a plea, "Don't leave me for them, Don't make me pretend that I can handle it" 'Them' being all those soul-sucking drugs. The first verse has the most meaning for me, because it's admitting, "I've been there too; I've had that crutch, but now here I am on the other side helplessly watching you descend further and further into addiction."
Interestingly, although the subject matter is pretty heavy, the song just plows right along without being weighed down by meaning. It's totally to the point without being melodramatic. I love that.
Lyrics
Don't leave me for them
No, no No, no
Don't leave me for them
Don't make me pretend
No, no No, no
That I can handle it
I have been there too
Had my needle
Had my spoon
Had the bottom of the bottle
Hell, I even had YOU!
Face pressed against the glass
Hot breath steaming up my view
Hands at either side
As I can't stand to lose
Don't leave me for them
No, no No, no
Don't leave me for them
Don't make me pretend
No, no No, no
That I can handle it
The stakes are awfully high
But my blood is running dry
I know it's deadly when you can't
Look me in the eye
A scratch,
A sniff,
A hit,
Some things you cannot hide
These sick things are draining
More than my pride
Don't leave me for them
No, no No, no
Don't leave me for them
Don't make me pretend
No, no No, no
That I can handle it
