The music of Lee Shapiro, which consists of a variety of styles and genres. I would appreciate if you "liked" or commented on any of the songs you enjoy.
My favorite kinds of music is the kind that surprises you. While I enjoy conventional type songs (verse, chorus, verse chorus, bridge, chorus), I prefer songs that take you on an adventure. This includes jam songs (Grateful Dead), and songs with many detours and lots of dynamics (Rickie Lee Jones, Dave Matthews). Although most of my songs tend to fall into some kind of normal verse/chorus formula, I do tend to try and mix things up a bit. Which is why most of my songs last longer than 4 or 5 minutes.

Story behind the song
Transferring this old 4 track cassette song and remastering it to digital kind of reminded me of trying to polish a turd, however it is a sentimental turd. A song about cycles, new years and starting over. I'm in that place (again) where you know where I am. A song originally from 1988 on the heels of the New Wave movement, with a touch of Electronica. It's funny how some songs seem to bring on new meaning decades later. Also, most of my early songs I used a real guitar for rhythm and lead guitar parts (as opposed to the virtual instruments I use today). I'm particularly proud of the lead guitar part on this song, especially for someone who is not a guitarist!
Lyrics
So I think about it When you're not smiling at me What I do about it Will divide us in between It's been a good year By my estimations You think about next year So where's the revelations? No more tubular bells The micromen will surround you It's not as cold as hell Just another change around you Going, going by You try to figure it out The new, new wave of unfeelings The new wave of a sound It's been a good year By my estimations You think about next year So where's the revalation Ooh, it's been a good year I saw your expectations It's just a...just a old fear When you know your 'lations. You know where I am When you can't find me at all You know where I am You know where I am It's been a good year By my estimations You think about next year So where's the revelations? You know where I am When you can't find me at all You know where I am You know who I am When you can't find me at all You know where I am It's been a good year for us all It's been a weird year for us all You know where I am When you can't find me at all You know where I am You know where I am
