Story behind the song
Frustrated about the health care debates in 09 and the dirty tactics used in the fight, I had to air my distaste with the issues. Still seems timely in nature now with the right wing trying to block financial regulations. (doh, wasn't that the reason for the financial meltdown???) Instrumental version is posted here also but I finally had to break down and sing it myself.....
Lyrics
MY COUNTRY TOO ---------------------------------------------------------------- Preaching family values, need to save my soul today Better stop and ask your God to see just what he'll have to say It's just the e-pit-o-me of hy-poc-ri-sy you see To think your ways are also my des-tin-y --------------------------------------------------------------- I don't much care for country music but I've got something y'all need to hear Those on the right seem out to conquer but we're all Americans and will not fear --------------------------------------------------------------- You preach the right to life so loud but if found guilty then hang em please Those mounted heads hanging on your wall really tell me your pri-or-ities --------------------------------------------------------------- I don't have to wear the American flag to prove I love my country too In-tim-i-dation, man-ip-u-lation ain't gonna make me follow you --------------------------------------------------------------- You're all for spreading freedom wide as long as you can set the rules It ain't gonna happen this time my friend won't pay your price, we're not your fools ______________________________________
