Strawberry Field was the name of a Salvation Army Children's Home just around the corner from Lennon's boyhood home in Woolton.

Strawberry Fields was an orphanage were John use to hang out with the kids especially when they had yard partys .In 1966 the touring thing came to an end which made John deeply analyze and think of the past due to things slowing down. So with strawberry fields he is saying that this orphanage is a sad sight but yet a fun place for him. John felt for himself that it didn't matter who he was or were he was going or any other things that weighed on his mind because he was with unfortunate children who he would have a good time with and he could put his troubles aside. So to make it short the song is about sad but yet happy and fun times with John and these orphans in which was apart in it's way from the outside world.
Strawberry Fiels fue un orfanato a donde John acostumbraba jugar con los niños en su infancia; especialmente cuando habían fiestas. En 1966 cuando la gira del grupo termino. Él tuvo un período de introspección y análisis de su pasado cuado era un niño. Al mismo tiempo sintió depresión. De este modo con Strawberry Fields está diciendo que este orfanato es algo triste de su pasado pero al mismo tiempo representa un lugar alegre y divertido para él ( por las fiestas donde participaba). Sentía para él mismo que no importaba donde estuviera o fuera o cualquier otra cosa que sucediera en su mente porque el estuvo con niños desafortunados con quienes había disfrutado y había tenido la oportunidad de dejar sus propios problemas de lado. Para hacerla corta; la canción es a cerca de tiempos tristes pero no obstante alegres y felices en este orfanato “Strawerry Fields” (huérfanos de padres que habían estado en la guerra), en donde John se apartaba de sus problemas y el mundo exterior. Puede tener muchos significados. También puede representar su odio hacia la guerra y sus consecuencias en los niños huérfanos. La compuso en Almería, España.
