The Official Backstory
This needs to start off with a disclaimer. I don't do, nor advocate, doing acid. I don't do, not advocate, using drugs as an escape from your life's problems.
That said, this song was a light hearted poke at some friends of mine who did once do both of those things. I was at a party at Dave's house and some people were trying acid for the first time. I was pretty drunk, and trying half-heartedly to discourage this. I thought by poking a little fun at the idea that the other options for their intended escapism were insufficient, it came to needing something stronger than all of that stuff - California Sunshine Microdot, as it turned out that night.
Everything about this song is poorly put together, especially the lyrics. Maybe you like them and think they are pointed to the context. Ultimately it's a song about getting wasted made while wasted.
I was in Nerado Black during this period. We actually did play this in the live set for about a year. Hopefully an old recording will surface.
