The Stantons started life as a hybrid of country and indie pop marrying banjo, boy/girl vocals and various folk and alt.country-flavoured instruments. Their debut album, “Welcome To Stanton Country” quickly gained praise from the likes of Is This Music?, The Daily Record, Radio 1 and The Skinny. Gigging with the likes of Monica Queen (Thrum) and Southern Tenant Folk Union at Tigerfest, El Rancho Relaxo, Leith Folk Club and Kelburn Garden Party helped spread the word and gain the band an enduring fan base. Now with a more eclectic sound, their recently released album, “Le Cirque de Muerta” mixes songs drawing from the traditions of gypsypop, American folk, sea-shanties and acoustica. For the release of “Le Cirque de Muerta”, the band devised a unique coming together of music and theatre, showcasing live performances of songs from the album blended together with a specially written piece of live theatre which was set to a backdrop of projected visuals.

Lyrics
I’ve been out, drunk and high for four hours now Can’t seem to keep my head and how Am I to make it through till three There’s nobody else, see The clock states it’s quarter to ten I’m falling over myself to leave and then It’s fate, it’s something great it’s now A race to keep my head Tick, tick, tick tick the clock is on Tick tick tick tick keep my mind on Tick tick tick tick a flashing dream Tick tick tick tick tick in between A couple of drunken men And now we’re moving elsewhere Drum ‘n’ bass or techno, I don’t care I focus on a vision in blue, black and skintight jeans Tick tick tick tick and I’m moving in Tick tick tick tick just on a whim Tick tick tick tick what do I have to lose Tick tick tick tick tick I just choose To keep on trying Instrumental Tick tick tick tick and later on Tick tick tick tick I’m staggering Tick tick tick tick time is running down Tick tick tick tick tick can I find A killer cue So three a.m., time to head home Can’t seem to find my friends though I think I’ll have to call time And make my way out She’s there, she’s standing with her friends She smiles and comes across and then I’m seeing stars, I’m struck dumb I’m blank and feeling numb Tick tick tick tick and here we go Tick tick tick tick and home we go Tick tick tick tick tick we can’t stand Tick tick tick tick tick here, hold my hand I’ll see you to my door Tick tick tick tick we’re hoping for Tick tick tick tick a little more Tick tick tick tick tick hold my hand Tick tick tick tick tick you understand I’ll see you to my door
