The Stantons started life as a hybrid of country and indie pop marrying banjo, boy/girl vocals and various folk and alt.country-flavoured instruments. Their debut album, “Welcome To Stanton Country” quickly gained praise from the likes of Is This Music?, The Daily Record, Radio 1 and The Skinny. Gigging with the likes of Monica Queen (Thrum) and Southern Tenant Folk Union at Tigerfest, El Rancho Relaxo, Leith Folk Club and Kelburn Garden Party helped spread the word and gain the band an enduring fan base. Now with a more eclectic sound, their recently released album, “Le Cirque de Muerta” mixes songs drawing from the traditions of gypsypop, American folk, sea-shanties and acoustica. For the release of “Le Cirque de Muerta”, the band devised a unique coming together of music and theatre, showcasing live performances of songs from the album blended together with a specially written piece of live theatre which was set to a backdrop of projected visuals.

Lyrics
I, I was the spoken word And I, I made my peace with God But then I fell to rocky places No-one would come to me You, you were in sweet decline For all your life Until you were anew My love, you wore it all away, hey So, for once I chose and did it right Without a second chance to get it wrong I made no mistake I held my grip on You, you were a passing ship but then Ah, you became more than I Could do without So I did not Ah, my love, in sweet decline And you, my love, your sweet decline I will be your sweetest decline So for years I slept under a maze And wept the tears I hadn’t Wasted on you When I was only there (outro)
